Motivation to Review

Updated: May 24, 2020

The plot of the different host response time was plotted against review scores for communication. This was shown for the three different cities considered - Brussels, Antwerp and Ghent. There was no significant correlation between the response time of the host and communication score. But in the city wise comparison, Ghent has an overall higher score and has a lot of listing rated above 8. But in the case of Brussels and Antwerp, majority of the listings are rated below 8.

The price of the listings is plotted against reviews per month. It is observed that for price ranges less than 100, the number of reviews per month range from 0 to 14 reviews per month but for higher price ranges, the number of reviews are below 4 per month. One can using the selecting data points to see clearly the scatter plots in the specific range. There is a possibility that the customers that prefer the listings with lower price range are the ones that travel frequently and would require reviews to choose the best place to stay and thus would also post reviews to help others like them. But in the case of higher priced places, either it is a company paid stay or it will be a family vacation apartment rent out and hence would not be motivated to take the effort to write the reviews.
