Just keep digging!

In this post, we try to go even further and make plots that combine several variables together and help us really figure out what the tourists really do prefer.

In the first plot below, we try to understand which facilities appease the tourists more by seeing the number of reviews they are leaving per month. Each property is mapped as a fan with each of 3 blades representing the number of toilets, beds and showers respectively. Additionally, these are also mapped according to their price.

For example, a property that has multiple people using only one toilet is not preferred by the visitors even though it may have a lower price. On the other hand, a property that has lesser sharing of toilets and a little pricier, is very frequently reviewed.

Figure 1: Does sharing toilets matter in ratings?

The plot below represents the average price of the different types of rooms in each of the three cities in Belgium. This helps us compare the overall average prices between these cities and also the differences in prices within the cities between the different room types. It is possible to see if there is an ordinal trend with the type of room and its price in the following cities. One more analysis is to see if there is a major difference between the average price of a certain type of room in one city as compared to the same type of room in the other cities.

Figure 2: How does cancellation Policy matter?

In the graph below, we try to find which neighborhoods allow what kind of tourists. Minimum or maximum number of nights is a very good representation of what kind of clientele the listings are welcoming in that neighborhood. For example, we can see that neighborhood A has a large number of listings with minimum 5 nights - this shows that they prefer tourists who aren't part of a large organized tour. While neighborhood D having min nights as 25 is looking for people who have some kind of work in the city and not tourists.

In the final plot, we try to understand if certain neighborhoods are more suitable based on number of guests in your tour. For example, neighborhood D is for 2-4 guests and not very expensive, while neighborhood A is more for the large tour groups and could possibly have large mansions
